So for a long time there has been a video shop around the corner from my parents place in Adelaide, as long as I can remember actually, and it was great, cheap and had it all, so when I drove past while back home the other week I was a little surprised it had gone and been replaced with a cafe… Adelaide isn’t renowned for good cafe’s in the suburbs so I was a little apprehensive but thought I’d give it a go… Bloody glad I did!
I love this place. I can’t deny it, I will go back to this place day after day for good coffee, great food and fab owners and friendly staff. If only Depot had wifi, this would be the place I could sit for hours and hours…to be fair that’s probably the exact reason they don’t have it – otherwise the queues would be even more out the door and probably right down the hill to the beach.
There has always been quite a lot of talk about Reuben Hills, and not surprisingly it was one of our staple cafe’s there for a while. The house blend beans here are great and the place has a good industrial feel that makes it a pretty reliable choice!
Ruby’s Diner is located on Bronte Road, part way between Bronte and Bondi Junction (ok nearer to Bondi Junction). Having just expanded to double the size (that’s got to say something about the popularity) this place was buzzing and also one of the few places to still be open over the New Year period. There was a definite hum about the place, and although it looked packed on the approach, there was still plenty of options to sit. Even sitting inside feels like outside with the whole front of the cafe being large windows that completely fold back. It’s very cool.
I have an amazing sweet tooth which, when combined with a lifestyle choice of being ‘sugar free’, is a recipe for a psychological melt down every time I walk into the Sweet Spot cafe in Waterloo for one of their great coffee’s…
